Marshall Boyd grew up in the hill country of Tennessee, some 23 miles north of Chattanooga. He enlisted in the army after high school. At the end of his military service, he used his Veteran’s Benefits to continue his education. This return to the classroom proved to be more enjoyable than his previous 12-year experience. So much so that he attended various schools for some ten years studying healthcare and creative writing.
His personal view of life is laden with the questions that dog those exposed to Western philosophy. Descartes said: I think therefore I am. This implies, I think therefore you are. Or worse. Yet, with the moral weight of Mankind’s predicament invading his thoughts, he manages to write lighthearted stories to entertain his readers.
He once told an audience that the great writers commit suicide or kill their bodies with alcohol or both. When asked if he might follow suit, he stated: I'm nurturing a taste for alcohol.
